Thermal Imaging (Infrared) Inspection
StoneMark Inspections offers thermal imaging as an add-on to home inspections in Paducah, KY and throughout Western Kentucky. Infrared technology can reveal temperature patterns that are invisible to the naked eye—helping identify areas that may warrant closer evaluation.
What Thermal Imaging Can Help Identify
Thermal imaging does not “see through walls,” but it can detect temperature anomalies that sometimes indicate underlying conditions. When an anomaly is found, it’s documented and tied to practical next steps.
- Possible moisture intrusion behind finishes (stains aren’t always visible yet)
- Missing, compressed, or disturbed insulation
- Air leakage paths around penetrations or attic access points
- Abnormal heat signatures at electrical components (screening for concerns)
- HVAC supply/return temperature patterns (basic performance indications)
Why Add Thermal Imaging to a Home Inspection
Standard inspections are visual and non-invasive. Thermal imaging adds another layer of information—especially useful for homes with past water events, older construction, or any situation where the buyer wants maximum clarity.
- More confidence during a home purchase
- Better documentation of suspicious areas
- Helps prioritize follow-up evaluation and repairs
Limitations (Straight Talk)
Infrared results depend on conditions at the time of inspection. Some issues won’t show up if temperature differentials are minimal, if materials have dried, or if airflow/insulation conditions don’t create a measurable pattern.
- No destructive testing or opening of finished surfaces
- No guarantee of detecting every defect
- Not a substitute for specialized evaluation when conditions warrant it
Service Area
Thermal imaging add-on services are available throughout Paducah, McCracken County, and surrounding Western Kentucky communities including Mayfield, Benton, Calvert City, Murray, and nearby areas.
